Finally, let's take a look at outdoor shows. Often you will find outdoor shows in California (home of perpetual good weather...they say) or during the milder months in the Northeast. They are different, in a very fun way, but also presented some unique challenges to exhibitors.

Outdoor shows remind me of a more entertaining, sociable atmosphere and are definitely a lot of fun! In the Pennsylvania show photo to the left, you see Candi Mogavero with Rain, the Havanese she co-owns with Patt McRae, on a folding grooming table ringside prior to showing. Patt is standing next to Candi and keeps her dog Baby from getting covered with dirt, grass, etc. by placing a small mat on the ground for her to relax on prior to entering the ring. Either one of these ideas are great ways to keep your freshly groomed dog actually looking freshly groomed!

Outdoor shows usually have their grooming areas set up under tents. Again it is first come, first serve in most cases. You can see x-pens (exercise pens) set up adjacent to the tent areas for the dogs.

Here you see our Annie on the grooming table at an outdoor show. Wind is often a "challenge" when trying to keep dogs looking nice and makes grooming a never ending process!
