Yofi represents the second generation of Havanese here at Tejano Havanese and we are pleased with our progress so far. Her parents are both Havanese that we bred and they bring together what we see as the ideal breed type and conformation in Yofi. She has the silkiest of coats, yet it is still so very abundant and doesn't lack undercoat as some silk coats can do. Her temperament is totally bulletproof and she never meets a stranger. Her lovely head and profile, mischievious expression and movement with flashing pads tell you from across the ring that she is a Havanese.
Yofi finished in under a month as a puppy with a whirlwind of success on the show circuit. Her opening weekend in the ring at the age of 6 months was celebrated with back to back major wins from a stellar panel of judges including Mrs. Dorothy Nickles, Edd Bivin and Mrs. Michelle Billings. What an honor to have these three judges find Yofi in their ring that weekend! Yofi's next weekend out was no less 
spectacular when she took Best of Breed over specials under judge Jan Paulk at the Dallas Ft. Worth Toy Club show. Once again, we were thrilled! Finally, Yofi wrapped up her championship with yet anothe major win from judge Roger Hartinger.
One of the questions we are frequently asked about Yofi is how we came up wih her name. The theme of her litter was the "Election litter" as they were whelped during the presidential election season with non-stop coverage of the elections on the news the night they were born. We thought her registered name of "Tejano's Leader in the Race" both fit with the election theme as well as honored her sire, whose registered name is Tejano's Leader of the Pack. We were fine with that but were searching for a "call" name for her that would fit our theme. A dear owner of one of her littermates suggested to us that the word "yofi" means "excellent" in Hebrew. Voila, we had our name as the "leader in the race" would certainly be excellent and the name fits her perfectly! Of course, Yofi lived up to that name with her success in the show ring and the rest is "history".
Yofi is now at home having a great time, although we plan to bring her back out into the show ring in the future. Until then, she enjoys running on our acreage here and playing with our boys who just love their Yofi!
